Reflectix Insulation in Ontario, CA | Welcome Insulation
We install and repair Reflectix radiant-barrier systems across Ontario, and we’ve been doing it long enough to know the honest truth: foil works here, but only when it’s installed around the realities of a 140°F attic and forty-year-old blown-in that’s given up. Most Ontario homes we walk into have the roof deck already pushing past that temperature by early afternoon, which means the foil’s air gap and your base insulation matter more than the product itself. Call us at (855) 795-2118 and we’ll tell you straight whether your attic needs foil, a top-up, or both.
Why Ontario Residents Choose Us for Reflectix Service
Insulation is all we do, so Reflectix isn’t something we dabble in between drywall jobs. Our crews are in Ontario attics every week of the summer, stapling perforated roof-deck foil, taping seams, and pulling out old flattened fiberglass that was installed when Lyndon Johnson was in office, and we offer Reflectix repair in Chino as well. Ruben Ochoa started Welcome Insulation after watching his own parents’ house cook through too many Augusts, and the crews he runs still treat every attic with that same personal grudge against wasted energy. We stock genuine Reflectix rolls and matching foil tape locally, which means when we find a seam failure or a missing air gap, we fix it that day instead of ordering parts and hoping for the best.
We’re also honest about what Reflectix can and can’t do, because selling foil to a house with no working base insulation would be malpractice. When you call us for Reflectix sales & service, you get a straight answer, not a catalog pitch. For full coverage details, see our Ontario service area page.
Common Reflectix Insulation Problems We Solve in Ontario
- Foil stapled directly to the roof deck with no air gap. We see this all the time in Ontario’s 1960s tract homes, where a previous owner or bottom-dollar contractor stapled perforated Reflectix tight against the sheathing under the composition shingles. The foil touches the deck, heat conducts straight through, and the radiant performance drops to almost nothing. We pull it, add the proper spacing, and re-staple it so it actually reflects.
- Seams and butt joints left untaped, or taped with the wrong product. Ontario sits dry and dusty, and when the Santa Anas kick up, that dust gets pulled through attic vents and under loose foil edges. Untaped seams let that dust coat the reflective surface until it’s just perforated plastic. We re-tape everything with genuine Reflectix foil tape, which holds under the heat cycling an Ontario attic throws at it.
- Foil installed over failed base insulation. This one burns us the most. A homeowner pays for radiant barrier while the attic still holds an inch of flattened 1960s blown-in with rodent runs carved through it. They’re putting lipstick on a pig. We tell them straight: fix the R-value first, then we’ll add the foil.
- Foil blocking soffit-to-ridge airflow. Older Ontario homes have gable and soffit vents that were undersized when they were built, and a lot of DIY Reflectix installs staple the foil across rafter bays without baffles. That chokes whatever ventilation was left, and the attic gets hotter, not cooler. Baffles have to go in first, always.
- HVAC duct chases cutting through the existing insulation. Any Ontario track home that’s had a furnace or AC changeout in the last twenty years looks like a crime scene up there. The old blown-in gets shoved aside for duct runs and never put back, leaving bare drywall under the roof. We air-seal those chases, top up the base, then think about foil.
Reflectix Service in Ontario: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Ontario’s housing stock was built to a set of assumptions that stopped being true the moment air conditioning became standard and summers started running longer. The post-WWII and 1960s-80s stucco tract homes across the city, from the older subdivisions near downtown up through the newer east and south sides, mostly have hip and low-pitch composition roofs with venting that was undersized from the start. On a 100°F day, the attic in one of these houses can run past 140°F, which means a Reflectix roof-deck barrier only pays off if we first re-cut soffit baffles around the HVAC chases and rodent runs that are choking the original vents. We’ve pulled foil out of Ontario attics where the homeowner swore the product was defective, and what we actually found was soffit vents buried under a decade of dust and foil stapled flat against the deck with no air gap. The product was fine. The install was garbage. Good insulation is quiet – you notice it most when it’s missing.
Reflectix Models & Products We Service in Ontario
We work with the full residential Reflectix line that Ontario homeowners actually have in their attics, crawl spaces, and garage walls. That covers the Double Reflective Insulation Roll in 16-inch and 24-inch widths, the single and double Reflective Foil Roll, the perforated Radiant Barrier Attic Foil that goes against the roof deck, and the Insulation Tape and foil seam tape that holds everything together. Where the existing foil is sound, we’ll patch and re-tape with genuine Reflectix materials. Where it’s torn, dust-coated, or installed wrong, we’ll pull it and re-do it properly. We keep the common roll sizes and tape in stock, so we’re not waiting on a distributor to finish an Ontario job.
Reflectix Service Pricing in Ontario
What you’ll pay for Reflectix work in Ontario depends on how much foil we’re installing, whether the existing barrier can be salvaged, and whether your base insulation needs a top-up first. A simple seam repair with proper re-taping usually runs a few hundred dollars, while a full attic radiant barrier install on a typical 1,200- to 1,500-square-foot Ontario tract home lands in the $1,800 to $2,600 range, labor and materials included. If your attic still holds flattened original blown-in, we’ll quote the top-up separately, because we won’t sell you foil that can’t do its job. Every estimate is free, and we’ll walk the attic before we quote anything. Call (855) 795-2118 and we’ll give you a number that accounts for the actual condition of your attic, not a regional average.

FAQs – Reflectix Insulation in Ontario
Not by itself. If your attic still has the original R-11 batts or settled blown-in from the 1960s, the foil will reflect radiant heat but do nothing about the conductive heat pouring through your ceiling. We always recommend topping up the base insulation to at least R-38 or R-49 first, then adding perforated Reflectix to the roof deck with a proper air gap. Call (855) 795-2118 and we’ll inspect your attic and tell you what order to do things in.
The foil has to be perforated so moisture doesn’t trap between the barrier and the roof deck, and it needs a consistent air gap, usually 3/4 inch or more, between the foil and the sheathing. We staple it to the underside of the rafters with baffles installed at the soffits so air still moves from intake to ridge. Without that airflow, the radiant heat that the foil reflects just sits in the attic and makes things worse.
In Ontario’s dry, dusty air, foil seams fail because the wrong tape was used at install, or the seams weren’t pressed and burnished against a clean, dust-free surface. When the Santa Anas blow, attic dust gets under any loose edge and the adhesive slowly loses its grip. We re-tape every seam with genuine Reflectix foil tape and make sure the surface is clean first. If you’re tired of re-taping it yourself, call (855) 795-2118 and we’ll fix it once.
Yes, and it’s a good application in Ontario’s dry climate where moisture isn’t the concern it is near the coast. Reflectix double reflective roll stapled to the underside of floor joists in a ventilated crawl space reflects heat away from the floor in summer and adds some resistance against heat loss in winter, similar to how we install Reflectix in Los Serranos. It works best in crawl spaces that are already dry and have decent venting, which most Ontario homes do.
Usually yes, but it’s tight. Low-pitch hip roofs in Ontario’s older tract homes often have shallow rafter bays, especially near the eaves, which means the air gap gets smaller toward the soffits. We’ll check your specific roof geometry before recommending foil, because if there isn’t room for a real air gap, the foil won’t perform and we’d rather tell you that up front than take your money. Call (855) 795-2118 and we’ll measure it.
